WhatsApp gets the blame, but Telegram groups and Snapchat exports flood camera rolls just as hard. Same fix, different toggles.
The quick answer
Telegram: Settings > Data and Storage > Save to Photos OFF, plus lower per-chat auto-download. Snapchat: audit Memories in-app and stop exporting everything to the roll. Then one swipe pass over the pile and empty Recently Deleted.
Step 1: Turn off the taps
- Telegram: Settings > Data and Storage > Save Incoming Photos — off. Set auto-download to small files / wifi-only per chat type.
- Snapchat: Profile > Memories — that’s the in-app archive eating Snapchat’s storage. Export only keepers; every export duplicates into your camera roll.
- Same for WhatsApp if you haven’t: stop WhatsApp auto-save.
What this gives you: the flood stopped at the source. What this does not give you: back the gigabytes already saved. That’s Step 2.
Step 2: Drain the pile
App saves cluster by date — swipe those weeks, keep 2-3 per event, delete the 200 forwards. Same triage as screenshots: low sentiment, high volume, 1-second decisions. Full context in WhatsApp photos filling storage — the mechanics are identical.
The bottom line
Three toggles stop three floods. Your camera roll goes back to photos you took — not photos the internet sent you.
